Fillmore City Fire Department Fire Notice

OFFICIAL NOTICE: PROTECT FILLMORE FROM FIRE To the Citizens of Fillmore
We are entering a critical season. Due to a significant lack of moisture this year, our landscapes are drying out at an alarming rate. The “fuel load”—specifically the dry grass in unused areas and along property lines—has reached dangerous levels. In Fillmore, fire safety is a shared responsibility. To protect our families, homes, and community, I am asking every property owner to take immediate action to create FireReady Yards.
YOUR ACTION PLAN:
- CUT IT LOW: Mow dry grass and weeds to a height of 4 inches or less. Short grass lacks the “ladder” effect that allows fire to spread rapidly.
- CLEAN IT OUT: Remove dead leaves and combustible debris from gutters, under decks, and against the foundations of your home or outbuildings.
- CLEAR THE ZONE: Ensure there is a clean buffer around every structure on your property.
The Reality:
A few hours of yard work today can prevent a lifetime of loss tomorrow. In a high-wind event, these simple steps are often the only thing that saves a home. Let’s work together to keep Fillmore safe. Stay vigilant, and let’s get fire-ready.
